Allegra Havens is a wonderful violinist who is, of course, classically trained, but she is game for plugging in her electric violin and letting it wail. She is actually the only musician on every track on the new CD. In the studio, we were going over the sheet music for Samurai, and I timidly asked if she could play some notes that were incredibly fast. And she just picked up her violin and tore through them like she had been doing it all her life—at lighting speed and perfectly in tune. It was amazing—and she makes it look easy. Allegra also has a great heart. Her door is always open for a wandering homeless dog who needs a place to be.
Her formal bio would say she is with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and founder of the Harbor String Quartet. She often serves as concertmaster for Virginia Musical Theater productions and tours nationally with Windborne Music’s production of Music of Led Zeppelin and Music of the Who. Allegra studied at Boston University and the Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts.
