Naif is from a tiny village in the Italian Alps. I was out for a run in Sacramento one morning and happened to hear her on a Belgian radio station, and she just slayed me. So, a bit later on, I was having some trouble finding the right voice for “Winged Victory,” and I asked Naif if she would sing with us. So she came to Washington, and it was cool and a half working with her. Her own songs are poignant, funny, or sometimes both at once. She is also a super-sensitive performer. It’s funny, because I listen to Naif’s CDs constantly and adore her music, and it’s been an honor to work with her.
Her formal bio would say she is an award-winning singer, songwriter, bassist, pianist, and guitarist. Originally from Valle d'Aosta, Italy, Naif has released five CDs in Italian and French. In 2007, she was invited by Tommy Barbarella to record with Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson, and many other musicians from Prince’s band. Her compositions and inventive music videos cover a wide emotional range from light and playful to deeply moving. She has played more than 500 concerts around Europe.
